Motul, an iconic French-based international leader in the production of high-performance fluids for engines and industry, sought to bring its new sustainability strategy to life across all its subsidiaries.
To spark global momentum and raise awareness around sustainability, the company chose Teamupp and its “Sustainability Challenge Pack”: a simple, engaging, and unifying international experience.
Motul: Passion, innovation, and sustainability leadership since 1853
Motul is a historic French leader in high-performance fluids, supporting mobility and engineering enthusiasts for nearly two centuries.
Its CSR strategy is built around three pillars that reflect its unique culture and values:
- CARE to protect and grow the people
- CRAFT with our full footprint in mind
- DARE to shape the future with our partners
Thus, while continuing to place people at the heart of its performance, Motul is committed to decarbonizing its activities, making its product offering more sustainable, and strengthening continuous innovation.
Motul also created the Motul Corazón Foundation, which supports education and social initiatives worldwide, helping young people in need access training and professional opportunities.
Activating Motul’s sustainability strategy across its global network
Across continents, each subsidiary had its own realities, priorities, and challenges, creating several obstacles for Motul:
- A difficulty in communicating and coordinating on CSR topics across subsidiaries, due to the cultural diversity of teams and differing local priorities.
- Uncertainty about whether each country would be interested in this type of challenge.
- Doubts about employees’ actual engagement, with no guarantee they would participate actively.
- Significant geographical distance, making collective mobilization more complex.
To meet these challenges, Motul aimed to:
- Make sustainability tangible by raising awareness about the company’s environmental efforts (carbon footprint, CSR pillars, Motul Corazón Foundation, sustainable innovation, and more)
- Create an international movement through simple, accessible actions suitable for all cultures and teams
- Establish a long-lasting sustainability mindset by rallying employees around a shared, global goals
- Bring the CSR strategy to life beyond institutional communications through concrete, visible, and meaningful actions
An international program to make sustainability part of everyday life
Motul launched its first edition of “Sustainability Weeks”: a two-week global activation around environmental awareness built with Teamupp’s Sustainability Challenge Pack.
Together, we created a journey combining real-life actions, learning moments, and collective engagement.
An accessible, engaging experience for all
Every employee was invited to move more, adopt eco-friendly habits, and learn about the company’s CSR pillars through engaging, easy-to-access content:
- Physical challenges: walk more, run, bike, stay active

- Photo & video challenges: capture sustainable moments by taking a selfie, share local initiatives, inspire other teams, and more

- Custom educational content: tailored materials based on Motul’s CSR pillars, its carbon footprint, Motul Corazón Foundation, and its innovations such as immersion cooling fluids for data centers.
The Teamupp app brought the experience to life, showing real-time progress and celebrating local initiatives.
A simple and effective global rollout
To streamline implementation, teams were organized by country or Business Unit. A structure that strengthened local cohesion while encouraging healthy competition between regions.
To ensure strong and consistent participation across all subsidiaries worldwide, Motul used a clear, efficient approach:
- An announcement message was sent 15 days before launch
- A kick-off reminder on Day 1
- A mid-challenge message to sustain engagement
A global network united by sustainability
Motul’s teams showed how collective action can spark a vibrant, motivating sustainability culture across a global organization.
- Real engagement across continents: Employees shared their daily actions, tracked team progress, and built momentum between countries! A major achievement for Motul, which highlighted the challenge of uniting such a geographically dispersed network.
- More sustainable habits in daily life: Walking, biking, reducing waste, adopting new eco-friendly actions… Small repeated gestures showed that a challenge can actually be a true driver of long-lasting behavioral change.
- Consistency and creativity: The most engaged teams and participants were celebrated for their motivation, creativity, and steady participation.
- Recognition aligned with Motul’s values: Winners received gifts from existing stock, giving unused inventory a second life and aligning recognition with the company’s sustainability commitments.
